About the role
This full-time Spatial Data Analyst role is responsible for the strategic use of GIS and spatial data across Defence. You will drive innovation, and ensure spatial systems support estate planning, asset management, and compliance. This role is key to enhancing spatial intelligence and aligning GIS platforms with operational needs.
Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of spatial datasets through rigorous quality assurance checks, supporting reliable geospatial analysis and decision-making.
- Collect, process, and integrate spatial data from multiple sources (satellite imagery, GPS, field surveys) and utilized GIS tools to create detailed maps, visualizations, and analytical reports.
- Provide technical support and training on GIS software, implemented best practices for spatial data workflows, and promoted compliance with SHEQ standards to maintain operational excellence.

About you - A degree in Geography, Geospatial Science, GIS, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in GIS platforms (e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS) and enterprise system integration.
- Strong understanding of spatial data governance and analytics.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- A commitment to safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
Must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance. As a result of this requirement the applicant must be an Australian Citizen and be willing to undertake and maintain a satisfactory Australian Federal Police.
