About the role
The Data Analyst is responsible for the technical execution and governance of structured data uploads for Australian Defence projects, ensuring full compliance with Governance and Data Lifecycle (GDL) processes. This role manages the end-to-end lifecycle of data ingestion, validation, transformation, and submission, ensuring alignment with Defence metadata standards and system architecture requirements.
You will act as a technical interface between project delivery teams, Defence stakeholders, and ICT administrators, ensuring data is accurate, auditable, and fit for operational use. The role also contributes to data governance by maintaining documentation, audit trails, and compliance records, while identifying opportunities for process optimisation and automation.
Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Manage end-to-end data lifecycle processes including acquisition, validation, classification, and upload.
- Monitor and audit datasets to ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality.
- Develop scalable systems and protocols for efficient data analysis and reporting.
- Drive continuous improvement by enhancing data workflows and governance practices.
- Collaborate with Defence and internal stakeholders to align data governance frameworks.
- Support reporting and analytics activities that deliver actionable insights.
- Promote a positive SHEQ culture through safe, accurate, and accountable data practices.
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or related field.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, and data visualisation platforms.
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks and cybersecurity principles.
- Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- 5+ years’ experience in data management or a related field.
- Must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance (Australian Citizen).
