- Shape the future of sustainable water infrastructure on the Sunshine Coast
- Drive collaboration & technical excellence across a multi-partner delivery model
- Be part of an inclusive, supportive and future-focused workplace
About us:
Unitywater operates in one of Australia’s most exceptional environments in terms of natural beauty, geographical and demographic breadth. We operate on Kabi Kabi, Jinibara and Turrbal Country, proudly providing safe and reliable water to customers in Moreton Bay, Sunshine Coast and Noosa. We are a water utility serving one of the fastest growing regions in the country.
We think a pretty good job starts here.
About the role:
As part of our multi-billion-dollar capital program, we’re delivering a major upgrade to the Kawana Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) — one of the most significant water infrastructure projects on the Sunshine Coast.
We’re seeking an experienced Principal Project Manager to lead this flagship project — a rare opportunity to deliver complex, high-impact infrastructure that will serve more than 200,000 people and support the region’s future growth.
As Principal Project Manager, you’ll provide technical leadership and program delivery expertise to oversee the successful design, construction, commissioning, and handover of the Kawana STP upgrade.
Working closely with Unitywater’s Sustainable Infrastructure Solutions (SIS) team and our Partners, you’ll coordinate diverse internal and external stakeholders to deliver an environmentally sustainable, safe, and efficient outcome for our community.
In this role you’ll:
- Lead the planning, delivery, commissioning, and handover of major wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Build strong, cross-functional relationships across Unitywater and partner organisations.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, regulatory, and safety standards.
- Oversee governance, assurance, and reporting across time, cost, and quality measures.
- Champion innovation, sustainability, and collaboration in project delivery.
About you:
You will be an accomplished project leader with experience delivering large-scale water and sewer infrastructure projects, ideally in a client-side or integration role. You thrive on complexity and enjoy leading multidisciplinary teams through major project lifecycles.
Your strengths will include:
- Strategic systems thinking – you understand how technical, regulatory, and operational pieces connect to deliver whole-of-system outcomes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management – you influence, negotiate, and bring diverse groups together to achieve shared goals.
- Strong organisational capability – you plan, prioritise, and execute in fast-moving, multi-stakeholder environments.
- Developed leadership skills – you lead with purpose, empower teams, and deliver results through collaboration.
You’ll also bring:
- A degree in engineering, environmental science, project management, or a related discipline.
- A current C Class Driver’s Licence.
