About the Role

We’re seeking a dedicated professional to play a critical role in managing and optimizing our Site Metal Flow Drumbeat. Core Activities:
Provide the business context to your area of accountability in a meaningful way, which enables all employees to draw the linkage between their role accountabilities and the delivery of the Site Metal Flow Drumbeat safely to plan.
Effective management of the Site Metal Flow protocol.
Continuous Monitoring of Crucible location and status of Work Cycle.
Has the authority to call a stop to Tapping, keeping the Reduction and Ingot Mill Supervisors informed of why, and how long for.
Continuous monitoring of Crucible condition IE: Functionality, Cleanliness (Weight / Quantity of Bath), liaise with Cruce Cleaning team for Augering and repairs as necessary.
Measure & report on agreed KPI’s / Site Metal Flow Drumbeat metrics.
Capture all issues and concerns which have an impact on Site Metal Flow Drumbeat, and document for review at each daily meeting.
Provide input into Site Metal Flow logistics strategies, budgets, and plans as well as the improvement of workflow processes

What you can bring to the role
Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of metal flow processes, crucible operations, and industrial protocols preferred.
Safety Leadership: Proven ability to uphold and enforce safety standards in high-risk environments.
Analytical Skills: Ability to monitor, measure, and report on KPIs and operational metrics with attention to detail.
Decision-Making Authority: Confidence to make critical operational decisions, including halting processes when required.
Problem-Solving: Skilled in identifying issues, documenting concerns, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaboration: Effective communicator who can liaise with multiple teams, including Reduction, Ingot Mill, and Crucible Cleaning.
Planning & Strategy: Experience contributing to logistics strategies, budgets, and workflow optimization.
Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond quickly to operational changes.

About the Location
Our Portland Smelter is a joint venture between Alcoa of Australia (55%), CITIC (22.5%) and Marubeni Aluminium Australia (22.5%). Alcoa manages the day-to-day operations at the smelter and we produce approximately 19 per cent of Australia’s total aluminium production in Portland.
