About the role:
As a
Strategic Sourcing Business Partner, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping how Unitywater sources, contracts and partners with its supply market. Working across complex, high-value and high-risk categories, you’ll lead strategic sourcing initiatives that deliver strong commercial outcomes, manage risk, and unlock long-term value for the organisation.
The current opportunity for this role is to focus on goods and supply chain improvement including sourcing and managing the supply of critical and non-critical goods across the following sub-categories:
- Pipes & Fittings
- Bulk Chemicals
- Valves, Meters, & Hydrants
- Critical Spares & Rotables
- Manholes, Boxes, Lids, Pre-formed Concrete & other goods
- Hardware & electrical supplies
- Uniforms & PPE
This category requires a strong background in goods sourcing, inventory management, and demonstrated experience in managing an inbound goods supply chain which sources goods both domestically and internationally.
Whilst this opportunity is focused primarily on the goods portfolio, the successful applicant may work across or entirely within other portfolios undertaking strategic sourcing or other procurement activities.

Must Have
- Degree qualification in Business, Law, Commerce, Construction Management or similar (or equivalent combination of experience and training)
- 5+ years’ experience in Procurement, Commercial or Contract Management
- Demonstrated experience delivering complex procurement categories, sourcing events or project procurement
- Strong commercial acumen with proven contract negotiation capability
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and issue-resolution skills
- High-level written and verbal communication skills with a professional, customer-focused approach
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and see initiatives through to completion
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders
- Sound understanding and practical application of Australian commercial supply contracts
- Demonstrated integrity, credibility and accountability
- C Class Driver’s Licence
Nice to Have
- Experience within a utility or similar regulated environment in Australia
- CIPS Level 5 Advanced Diploma (or higher) in Procurement and Supply
- Experience with specialist or category-specific contracts
- Advanced capability using spend analytics, sourcing platforms and financial systems
- A proactive approach to continuous learning and professional development
