About the role:
We are seeking a Senior Analyst – Customer Systems Product Engineering to act as a trusted technical specialist and internal consultant supporting critical customer and operational business applications.
In this role, you will apply deep business and system knowledge to analyse complex requirements, design effective solutions, and support the ongoing performance, enhancement and reliability of key customer‑facing systems. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring applications continue to support Water Corporation’s core business processes while meeting the evolving needs of stakeholders across Customer & Community, Asset and Operations functions.
This role suits an experienced application analyst who enjoys working across the full application lifecycle, partnering with business leaders, managing change and releases, and driving continuous improvement through technology.

What the role will involve:
Applications support & solution delivery
- Analyse and define complex business processes and stakeholder needs, translating these into clear application requirements and designs.
- Prepare detailed written analyses of application performance, enhancements and improvement opportunities, including recommendations and conclusions.
- Critically assess, prioritise and investigate business application change requests and initiatives.
- Configure, coordinate, test and document approved application changes.
- Manage change and release activities, including detailed planning, scheduling and execution through formal change and release management processes.
- Provide technical expertise to support software updates, upgrades and system implementations.
- Deliver second‑level application support, resolving complex end‑user queries and issues.
- Provide subject‑matter expertise and advice relating to supported application domains.
Project & implementation support
- Plan and participate in the implementation of new, updated or upgraded business applications.
- Perform internal project management activities and contribute to external project teams as required.
- Support User Acceptance Testing and change releases in partnership with business process representatives.
- Represent section interests in projects, particularly in relation to ongoing support and operational considerations.
Stakeholder & relationship management
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with business stakeholders, acting as a trusted liaison for technical and application‑related queries.
- Work closely with Business Partners to ensure application solutions align with business needs.
- Coordinate and oversee application delivery activities performed by external service providers.
Continuous improvement & service excellence
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve business processes through application functionality or capability.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance service delivery within the team and across the group.
- Manage licensing for externally supplied applications and vendors.
Knowledge management
- Develop and maintain high‑quality documentation relating to requirements, changes, releases, issues and learning materials.
- Actively share knowledge within the section and contribute content to knowledge management systems.
- Support the Local User Expert network to improve application adoption and effectiveness.
Ethics & compliance
- Perform all duties in line with relevant legislation, corporate policies, codes of conduct, safety requirements and accountability frameworks.
- Model behaviours that support a constructive, inclusive and high‑performance culture in line with Water Corporation values.
Key skills and experience:
- Degree‑level qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. Business Information Systems, Information Management, Computer Science or similar) with substantial experience delivering business application support services, or a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline with extensive experience delivering one or more business application support functions.
- ITIL 4 Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management.
- Considerable experience delivering projects, including planning, coordination and stakeholder engagement.
- Demonstrated ability to improve business processes or operations through the effective use of business systems and applications.
- Strong knowledge of systems and application development lifecycles.
- Proven ability to assess and clearly communicate the business impact of application technologies and system changes.
- Experience applying structured methodologies to analyse, design and implement information systems.
- Well‑developed internal consultancy skills, including analysis, facilitation and solution recommendation.
- Advanced proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making capability.
- Ability to clearly specify and communicate development requirements to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proactive, forward‑looking and collaborative working style.
- Demonstrates values and behaviours that contribute to a high‑performance, customer‑focused culture.
Desirable skills and experience:
- Working knowledge of business processes within the utilities sector or a similar service‑delivery domain.
- Experience with CRM, Salesforce, self-service portals, and other customer facing systems.
- Experience with large scale database technologies, data warehouses, portals, report building skills and/or application’s configuration.
- Experience with Application’s change and release management.
- Implementation and support of other Enterprise Resource Planning applications.
- Working knowledge of or experience in a contemporary programming language.
- Certificate four in Workplace Assessment & Training.
