The Senior Manager, Portfolio Insights & Analytics, will play a pivotal role in driving the strategic direction and performance of our portfolio management processes. Working closely with the Director, Portfolio Insights & Analytics and the Director, Portfolio Decision Strategy, this position is responsible for overseeing portfolio master data, ensuring adherence to standard portfolio processes, and delivering comprehensive performance reporting. In addition, this position provides hands-on decision analysis capabilities, with an explicit opportunity to build decision analysis skills over time. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
Primary Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Portfolio Master Data Management:
- Oversee the maintenance and accuracy of portfolio master data
- Ensure data integrity and consistency with portfolio data classification and definitions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to update and validate data as needed
Standard Portfolio Processes:
- Document, socialize and continuously improve standard portfolio management processes
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance Portfolio Management systems
- Ensure compliance with established processes and guidelines.
- Provide training and support to team members on portfolio management best practices.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Implement robust performance monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to analyze portfolio performance to identify risks, trends, opportunities, and trade-offs.
- Define and measure key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with strategic objectives to assess portfolio progression and value contribution
- Lead generation of standard PRISM Portfolio Executive Reporting materials on a monthly basis
- Develop dashboards and visualizations to communicate portfolio and decision insights effectively to key stakeholders and senior leadership
Portfolio Tool System Admin:
- Become a Super User of Advanced Portfolio Analytics Tool (Planview Advisor)
- Act as primary liaison between I&T, Vendor and Users to help troubleshoot, understand user requirements and help determine technical solutions / enhancements
Decision Analysis & Workshop Support:
- Provide analytical and tactical support for Decision Analysis workshops, including preparation, in‑session support, and post‑workshop analysis and modeling
- Support structured decision‑making for selected program and project‑level decisions, including scenario, basic modeling, and sensitivity analyses to evaluate strategic options and uncertainty
Support development of analytical summaries and documentation of key assumptions and decision rationale for governance discussions
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, Data or related discipline (required); Advanced degree such as MBA or equivalent business qualification (preferred).
Experience (7+ years) in R&D portfolio management, business analytics, data science, or related field
Experience working in a global biotech organization / understanding of drug development lifecycle and commercialization process (required), global pharmaceutical market and competitive dynamics (strongly preferred)
Demonstrated problem-solving skills including problem definition, hypothesis generation/ testing and solution proposition.
Knowledge and experience in portfolio management software and affinity for leveraging new technology, automation, visualization tools and techniques (e.g. Power BI, Tableu, Qlik)
Competencies:
Effective collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work productively within cross-functional teams and support collective goals.
Proven experience in managing large datasets and ensuring data quality.
Experience synthesizing quantitative and qualitative information into clear insights
Curiosity and learning orientation, with interest in building decision analysis capabilities over time
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience in forecasting, scenario planning, and modeling.
Working Environment:
Hybrid (minimum 3 days/week in office)
Operate in a fast-paced, global, matrixed environment requiring coordination with stakeholders across time zones and geographies
Manage relationships and interactions with senior leaders across R&D, Commercial Development, Finance, and Business Development
Travel Expectations: Minimum travel for internal meetings, as required.
