We are seeking an experienced operational and engineering leader to oversee the delivery of statewide High Voltage Maintenance and Fire Management programs that play a critical role in protecting our people, assets, customers and communities.
Reporting to the Head of Operations Services and based in Canning Vale, this is a significant leadership opportunity with responsibility for major operational programs, specialist technical teams and a portfolio exceeding $6 million annually.
About the role
As Manager Operational Program Delivery, you will provide strategic leadership across a portfolio of complex operational programs, ensuring critical maintenance and Fire Management activities are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with business objectives.
You will lead regional and metropolitan teams, drive operational performance, and provide expert oversight of high voltage asset maintenance, planning and fault response activities across 134 sites throughout Western Australia. Leading and managing the Fire Management team to comply with the legislative, environmental, aboriginal and heritage requirements to deliver a complex program for 660 000 ha across the state.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the delivery of statewide High Voltage Maintenance and Fire Management programs.
- Providing strategic direction and support to Regional and Metro Managers responsible for multidisciplinary operational teams.
- Managing specialist high voltage maintenance activities, investigations, maintenance planning and critical fault response programs.
- Overseeing portfolio performance, budgets, resource utilisation and contract delivery.
- Leading contract negotiations and procurement activities to ensure value, performance and safety outcomes.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance reliability, productivity and operational performance.
- Ensuring planned maintenance programs are delivered effectively, balancing risk, customer service and operational requirements.
- Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, regulators, power utilities, government agencies and service providers.
- Providing visible leadership that promotes a strong safety culture and supports the development of high performing teams.
About you
You are a proven leader and manager with a strong background in operational infrastructure, asset maintenance and engineering program delivery. You combine technical expertise with commercial acumen, strategic thinking and the ability to influence across complex stakeholder environments.
You will bring:
- A degree qualification in Engineering, MBA, Project Management or a related discipline, or equivalent extensive industry experience.
- Extensive professional experience working with asset maintenance programs and project management portfolios.
- Significant experience leading and developing multidisciplinary teams across geographically dispersed operations.
- Demonstrated success managing complex operational programs, budgets and service delivery outcomes.
- Strong commercial capability, including contract negotiation, contractor management and procurement oversight.
- Experience supporting the performance and reliability of critical infrastructure assets.
- Advanced analytical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A demonstrated commitment to safety leadership, continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Knowledge of utility, infrastructure, energy or water industry asset management and investment planning processes.
Desirable
The following qualifications and experience would be highly regarded:
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status.
- PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent project management certification.
- Experience leading organisational change and business improvement programs.
