About the role:
At Unitywater, we’re committed to building a sustainable water future for our growing region. We’re looking for an experienced Network Planning Lead to provide technical and strategic leadership in the planning and optimisation of our water and wastewater networks. Leading a small team, you will oversee the development, maintenance and use of hydraulic models to inform our 30-year capital works program, guide infrastructure investment, and support operational decision-making across Unitywater.
What You’ll Do
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of network planning specialists to deliver high-quality modelling and planning outcomes.
- Oversee the creation, calibration and validation of water and wastewater network models to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Lead the development of Network Master Plans and strategic studies that inform Unitywater’s long-term investment and servicing strategies.
- Provide expert advice and scenario analysis to support planning for growth, network performance, and service optimisation.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in modelling tools, data analytics and automation processes.
- Collaborate across Unitywater and with external partners to deliver integrated, sustainable and efficient network planning outcomes.

You are a technically strong and collaborative engineering leader with expertise in water network planning and modelling. You thrive in a multidisciplinary environment and can translate complex technical data into actionable insights that shape long-term strategic outcomes.
You’ll also bring:
- RPEQ registration or Chartered Professional Engineer status.
- Degree qualifications in Civil Engineering, with significant experience in the water industry or similar asset-intensive sector.
- Proven success leading technical teams and managing resources to achieve quality outcomes.
- Extensive experience with hydraulic network modelling, spatial information systems and design software.
- Strong understanding of design codes, planning standards and regulatory frameworks relevant to the water industry.
- A high level of communication, stakeholder and negotiation skills with a focus on collaboration and mentoring.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement effective business processes and systems within a quality framework.
