We are asking for expressions of interest for early 2026 for this unique opportunity to contribute to high-impact environmental monitoring projects across regional Victoria and southern New South Wales, including work with the defence sector and major government clients.
Whether you're a qualified professional or progressing toward certification, Ventia is seeking a passionate and experienced Hydrographer, River Hydrologist, or Hydrometric Officer to join our dynamic Environmental Services team.
Full-time, field-based worker with opportunities for career development.
Location: Regional Victoria (Tatura)
What You’ll Be Doing
Under the guidance of the Operations Manager, you will: -
- Conduct field-based environmental monitoring of surface and groundwater systems - Collect, analyse, and report streamflow and water quality data
- Install and maintain hydrometric stations and instrumentation
- Perform site surveys, discharge measurements, and cross-sectional profiling using ADV’s and ADCP’s
- Manage data using platforms such as HYDSTRA, ESDAT, and Campbells
- Ensure compliance with OH&S protocols and maintain high data quality standards
- Coordinate with laboratories and stakeholders throughout project lifecycles
What We’re Looking For
To be successful, you will be experienced in groundwater/surface water monitoring and enrolled in or completed a Diploma in Water Operations (or similar) with
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiar with hydrological software
- Skilled in using SDI-12 and 4–20mA instrumentation
- A strong communicator with excellent time management and self-motivation
- Willing to travel, including overnight stays –
- Certified in First Aid and holds a White/Red Card (desirable)
