About the role:
Want to work as part of a supportive team where cultural knowledge is celebrated?
This is a fantastic opportunity to have a meaningful, community-focused role. As an Officer – Aboriginal School Education, you'll work with Perth metropolitan schools to raise awareness of Aboriginal cultural practices around water and how they shape today’s innovations.
Your important role will include delivering engaging, culturally rich incursions to students from pre-primary to Year 12. By facilitating the Water in Aboriginal Culture program, you’ll help young people understand that water is more than a resource – it’s life, spirit, and story.
The program is more than an educational initiative; it’s a bridge between generations, cultures, and Country.
Want to know what it’s really like? Here’s what our Aboriginal School Education Officers are saying about the impact they make every day.
“The program opens students’ eyes to a different way of seeing and valuing water. It sparks curiosity and respect among both teachers and students, it allows for questions to be asked in a culturally respectful space. It makes a difference to Aboriginal students too; to have someone from their culture representing and speaking so highly of it makes them feel seen and respected.”
“Cultural literacy is an opportunity for all Australians to learn how important Boordja is, the program helps creates the space to heal as a nation. It provides all students with a broadened view of this country we all call home.”
“Water holds deep cultural significance to our people all over Australia. It is more than a resource; it is sacred, life, spirit, story and creation.”
