About the role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Advisor – Policy & Compliance to join our Customer Billing Operations team on a permanent, full-time basis.
This role is responsible for leading and delivering policy and compliance activities relating to customer billing functions, including audit-driven actions, legislative changes and tariff reforms. You will play a key role in ensuring processes remain compliant with the Operating Licence, Water Compliance Reporting Manual and broader regulatory requirements.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced compliance professional to work in a complex, highly regulated environment and provide expert advice that supports strong governance, accurate billing outcomes and continuous improvement.

What you can expect with this role
- Leading policy and compliance activities relating to customer billing, including audit actions, legislative change and tariff reforms.
- Embedding and maintaining effective compliance controls, policies and procedures to safeguard billing integrity and support regulatory compliance.
- Leading compliance, assurance and audit activities across Customer Billing Operations and Customer Service business units.
- Supporting the implementation of legislative and regulatory changes and ensuring requirements are embedded into business processes.
- Preparing accurate data, reporting and commentary to support internal and external audits and regulatory reporting obligations.
- Providing expert advice to internal stakeholders by interpreting and translating legislative, regulatory and licence requirements into practical guidance.
- Supporting corrective actions, continuous improvement initiatives and governance enhancements.
- Analysing and interpreting information to inform policy reviews, decision-making and regulatory performance reporting.
- Identifying and addressing billing and regulatory reporting anomalies, ensuring appropriate governance and approvals.
Your skills and experience
For this role, we are looking for great talent with:
- You will have a degree-level qualification in commerce, business or a relevant discipline, or substantial equivalent experience in policy, compliance or regulatory roles within a complex or highly regulated environment, along with a proactive and analytical approach to problem solving.
- Considerable experience interpreting legislation, policies and procedures and applying them in an operational context.
- Demonstrated experience in regulatory compliance, assurance, audit or risk management activities.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and provide meaningful insights.
- High attention to detail, particularly in documentation, audit trails and reporting.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced capability in MS Office tools, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
