About the Role
You must be an Australian citizen with the ability to obtain necessary defence security clearances.
Full responsibility for coordinating and delivering construction activities across two key sites, including Defence-related work, managing subcontractors, leading safe work practices, maintaining compliance, and ensuring quality outcomes across all phases of construction. Key focus areas include:
- Ownership of day-to-day site activities, early works, delivery, and close out processes
- Supervising civil, structural, electrical, cabling and communication works
- Acting as the main point of contact in Townsville for deliveries, contractors, and on site operations
- Driving performance through proactive planning, coordination and resource management
- Upholding strong relationships with clients and supporting internal project teams
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a strong safety culture, conduct compliance checks, critical control inspections and address incidents promptly
- Construction walk-outs, planning, scoping and ensure materials and equipment availability
- Lead and brief subcontractors, escalating issues where necessary
- Accuracy in reporting of all construction works
- Aim for “no rework” through proactive quality management (audits) and rectifying defects promptly
- Build and maintain stakeholder relationships including managing community / environmental queries as needed
Skills & Experience
Sound leadership and end to end construction project management experience will see you succeed in this role (civil & electrical – strongly preferred or telecommunication construction).
- Tertiary qualifications in construction/engineering (advantageous)
- Drivers licence, Construction White Card, First Aid, Supervisor Ticket
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Sound understanding of Australian construction standards
- Self-motivated with strong communication, time management, negotiation skills
- Good computer skills
