Join our team of 4,000 energetic employees working across WA to supply and manage water, ultimately benefiting the lives of our communities and environment.
When our workplace spans across 2.6 million square kilometres, the career options are endless.
Considering one outside of Perth can expand your future employment opportunities and offer you a better quality of life as a Welder/Fabrication Tradesperson at Water Corporation in a permanent position located in Kalgoorlie.
What the role will involve.
If you are a Welder/Fabricator who is confident working in a hands‑on, flexible environment, this role gives you exactly that.
While you hold strong fabrication skills and a solid understanding of welding processes, most of your work won’t be in a workshop.
In fact, this position is predominantly field‑based, travelling across the region and potentially the state repairing and maintaining Water Corporation’s steel water mains, including iconic infrastructure like the CY O’Connor Pipeline.
In the workshop, you will mainly perform MIG welding, but out in the field, your day‑to‑day welding will primarily be Flux‑Core.
To succeed, you will need a Certificate III in Engineering – Heavy Fabrication qualification.
You will be working out of an MR truck fitted with a welder, often paired with an Operator, completing pipe repairs, leak fixes, and preventative maintenance.
There is a bit of fabrication involved, but most of your time will be spent out on the pipeline where your “office” becomes fields, paddocks, open country, and a different view every day.
One day you could be in Wiluna, the next in Norseman. There is also the opportunity to spend time in other areas such as Northam, teaming up with other welders for banding work.
This is a role for someone who enjoys teamwork, thrives on variety, and likes having real freedom in how they manage their day.
The Hiring Manager is highly flexible, encourages development, and trusts the team to self-manage, no micromanaging here!
