About the role:
We are looking for an experienced Process Engineer to join our team on a contract basis, supporting the performance, compliance and optimisation of our sewage treatment plants, recycled water schemes and biosolids reuse programs.
This is a hands-on technical role working across operational and capital environments, where you will influence plant performance, environmental outcomes and long-term asset capability.
You will:
- Monitor and optimise sewage treatment, recycled water and biosolids systems to ensure environmental and public health compliance
- Analyse and trend plant data, develop KPIs and deliver clear, actionable technical reporting to operational and leadership stakeholders
- Improve treated water and biosolids quality, reduce operating costs, increase energy efficiency and enhance process capacity
- Provide technical input across the asset lifecycle — including planning studies, business cases, design reviews, HAZOPs, commissioning, performance testing and post-commissioning optimisation
- Resolve process and equipment issues using structured problem-solving, quality control and risk management principles
- Coordinate testing and monitoring programs with plant leaders, laboratory teams and field crews
- Contribute to safe and reliable plant operations, including incident response and continuous improvement initiatives
About you:
You are a technically competent and analytical engineer who enjoys partnering with operational teams to improve performance outcomes. You bring sound engineering judgement and a hands-on, solutions-focused approach.
You’ll bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Chemical, Environmental or related Engineering discipline
- Experience in sewage treatment processes, nutrient removal, sludge thickening, digestion and dewatering, and advanced water treatment technologies
- Experience with recycled water and biosolids reuse schemes and relevant environmental legislation
- Analytical capability, including high proficiency in Excel and experience working with SCADA systems
- Excellent written, verbal and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong organisational and decision-making capability in complex operational environments
- Current C Class Driver’s Licence
