The Opportunity
Join Ventia, in partnership with the Australian Defence Force, as an Electrical Fitter. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, equipment, and wiring across a diverse range of vehicles, trailers, plant, and specialised equipment.
You will undertake maintenance management activities on various plant and equipment, with a strong focus on electrical systems and field power generators to a medium level of complexity. The role also requires the capability to perform modifications and fault diagnosis on both AC and DC electrical equipment.

Key Accountabilities
- Carry out electrical maintenance, inspection, fault diagnosis, repair, and modification in line with Work Orders and technical standards.
- Service and repair AC/DC and electronically controlled vehicle and plant systems, including braking (ABS), transmission, SRS, air conditioning, and accessory systems.
- Install, test, recondition, and replace electrical components and accessories across vehicles, plant, and equipment.
- Interpret circuit diagrams and use diagnostic tools and computer-based systems to identify and rectify faults.
- Complete post-maintenance inspections, certify works via Job Cards, and accurately record maintenance data and additional defects in mandated systems.
- Manage issued parts and consumables responsibly and report additional faults to supervisors.
- Investigate and report materiel defects, ensuring equipment is cleaned, reclassified, and returned to stores as required.
- Provide technical guidance to operators, support on-the-job training, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
- TRF Level 1 with a recognised Trade Certificate III in Electrical Fitting.
- Current State Electrical Licence (Electrical Fitter or Electrical Fitter/Mechanic), with up-to-date CPR and Low Voltage Rescue (LVR) competencies.
- Air conditioning and/or refrigeration trade qualification, including the relevant National or State refrigerant handling licence.
- Demonstrated experience maintaining electrical equipment and field power generators to a medium level, including modifications to AC and DC electrical systems.
- Additional licences or tickets relevant to specific vehicles (e.g. forklift) highly regarded.
- Valid Australian State or Territory driver’s licence (HR licence advantageous).
- Australian Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Baseline Security Clearance.
