About the role
The Special Forces Training Facilities (SFTF) Electronics Technician provides technical expertise across specialised Defence training facilities, ensuring the reliability, safety and performance of electronic, target and training systems. This role delivers both planned and reactive maintenance, supports system upgrades, and operates complex equipment used for live‑fire, simulated and instrumented training. Working within a highly skilled team, you will maintain rigorous Defence safety and security standards, keep accurate digital records, and collaborate closely with Defence personnel to ensure training systems remain consistently ready in high‑tempo environments.
Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to)
- Install, maintain and repair electronic, target and training systems across specialised facilities
- Provide planned and reactive maintenance to ensure system reliability and readiness
- Support safe operation of systems used for live‑fire, simulated and instrumented training
- Maintain tools, materials and equipment required for operational tasks
- Work closely with Defence Special Forces Units to understand technical demands and risks
- Comply with all SHEQ, fire safety, and Defence security clearance requirements
About you
- Diploma in Electronic Engineering or equivalent
- First Aid & White Card
- 3+ years’ experience in electronics maintenance or a similar technical role
- Understanding of safety regulations, fire prevention and environmental compliance
- Experience with specialised Defence‑related tools or electronic systems (desirable)
- NV1 Defence Clearance (or ability to obtain), DEFEO101D
- C Class Manual Driver’s Licence and relevant high‑risk licences (EWP, forklift, working at heights)
