Join HCF as a Senior Legal Counsel and play a key role in supporting the business with pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice. Reporting to the Head of Legal and Compliance, you will provide legal support across a broad range of corporate, commercial, privacy, consumer and regulatory matters, oversee legal risk management activities, manage external legal providers, and help ensure compliance with evolving legislative and regulatory requirements across the HCF Group. This role requires senior-level legal experience within a corporate, commercial, privacy, consumer law or regulated environment, with the ability to work autonomously and manage complex legal matters across multiple business areas. You will provide practical legal advice across commercial, regulatory, privacy and customer-related matters while partnering closely with senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Review, draft and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including supplier, procurement, technology, data-sharing and confidentiality agreements.
Provide legal advice on privacy, consumer law, customer communications and regulatory obligations.
Review and advise on customer-facing materials, communications, marketing content and business initiatives to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
Support business stakeholders by providing pragmatic and commercially focused legal advice.
Assist the Head of Legal and Compliance with governance, risk and stakeholder reporting activities.
Develop and deliver legal training to enhance compliance awareness and legal capability across the business.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Law degree from a recognised Australian or overseas institution.
Minimum 7 years' post-admission experience, ideally gained across both private practice and in-house environments.
Strong experience in corporate, commercial, privacy, consumer law, regulatory advisory or a similarly regulated environment.
Ability to operate confidently at both strategic and operational levels.
Sound judgement and the ability to manage complex legal and commercial issues.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and advise at all levels of an organisation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise, facilitate and coach others.
