HCF is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel on a 12 month contract to support its Overseas Visitors Health Cover (OVHC) and HCF Life businesses.
This role requires senior‑level experience in life insurance and financial services, with the ability to work autonomously and manage complex legal matters across both divisions. You will provide legal advice across commercial, regulatory, and customer‑facing matters and work closely with senior stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
Review, draft, and negotiate legal contracts for OVHC and HCF Life, including third‑party supplier and confidentiality agreements
Review and draft Product Disclosure Statements (PDSs), Financial Services Guides (FSGs), Target Market Determinations (TMDs), and other customer‑facing and marketing materials
Review and draft frontline and marketing collateral for the OVHC business
Provide practical legal advice to OVHC and HCF Life business stakeholders
Support the Head of Legal and Compliance with stakeholder reporting
Deliver legal training to build capability across OVHC and HCF Life
Skills, experience and qualifications
Law degree from a recognised Australian or overseas institution
Minimum 7 years’ post‑admission experience, ideally across private practice and in‑house environments
Senior‑level experience in life insurance and financial services
Ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels
Sound judgement and the ability to manage complex legal and commercial issues
Ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all organisational levels
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent attention to detail and strong prioritisation, facilitation, and coaching skills.
