About the position
We have a permanent opportunity for a Team Leader – Civil to lead a team of Operators.
You will enjoy developing, motivating and managing the team of competent Water Corporation workers providing water and wastewater services to customers within the Southwest Region and based in Busselton.
Without compromising health and safety, the role is responsible for organising and prioritising work across unplanned and planned activities and operational requirements.

What You Can Expect in This Role
Champion Safety Leadership:
- Lead and promote team safety initiatives, including daily review meetings, preparation of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), workplace inspections, and proactive hazard identification and control. Drive follow‑through on identified improvements to maintain a safe working environment.
Oversee Daily Operations & Resource Management:
- Manage day‑to‑day team resourcing and workload allocation to meet regional operational needs, escalating issues to the Operations Manager when required.
Develop and Mentor Team Members:
- Build capability across the team by providing coaching, mentoring, and both on‑the‑job and off‑the‑job training. Ensure employees are aware of corporate and technical development opportunities and support effective knowledge sharing.
Deliver High‑Quality Water Services:
- Ensure the provision of water‑related services to all Water Corporation customers within the region in line with regulatory standards and corporate expectations.
Drive Regional Performance:
- Collaborate with the Operations Manager to optimise outcomes from corporate processes and support continuous improvement across the region.
Monitor Financial & Business Performance:
- Track, manage, and report on team performance, including operating costs, resource efficiency, and achievement of performance targets and objectives.
Key skills and experience
Proven experience in people leadership and team management
Certificate III in Water Operations or an equivalent trade qualification (desirable, not essential)
Certificate IV in Frontline Management or progress toward attaining this qualification (desirable, not essential)
Experience with Vacuum Sewer systems is highly regarded but not essential
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated commitment to fostering a positive, high‑performance workplace culture through appropriate values and behaviours
Sound knowledge of, and commitment to, occupational safety and health (OSH) practices
Current Western Australian C Class Driver’s Licence
