We are seeking a reliable, self-motivated and customer-focused TARM (Training Area Range Management Services) Relief Caretaker to join our team in WA. This is a full-time salaried role offering variety, responsibility, and the chance to work in a unique Defence environment.
This position is a full-time position, with a priority in stepping in to perform live-in Caretaker duties when the primary TARM Caretaker is away from site, including annual and personal leave. When not undertaking caretaker duties, you will remain on base supporting operations through minor infrastructure maintenance, range operator duties, and other site-based works.
The Role
You will play a key role in supporting the daily operations of the training area and ensuring facilities are safe, functional, and well maintained. You will also provide customer-focused support to Defence personnel and visitors, helping deliver a consistently high standard of service to our client.
Key Responsibilities
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Maintenance and repair of base infrastructure
- Land management activities including spraying, slashing, and fence repairs
- Conducting building inspections, audits, and data recording
- Coordinating subcontractors and ensuring compliance with all site protocols before, during, and after attendance
- Administering arrival and departure inspections and associated tasks for Defence personnel and visitors
- Delivering briefings and ensuring operational readiness prior to training activities
- Ensuring adherence to Range Standing Orders and reporting any breaches
- Manufacturing and repairing non-military training collateral used within the Training Area
- Supporting range operations and general site works when not performing caretaker relief duties
About You
You are practical, adaptable, and comfortable working independently in a remote or semi-remote environment. You take pride in maintaining high standards and supporting Defence capability through reliable on-site support.
Essential Requirements
- Valid Australian Driver’s Licence
- Current operational licences and equipment tickets
- Experience using relevant tools, including power tools and chainsaws
- Working knowledge of inventory control, stock management, and storage maintenance
- Strong navigational and orientation skills
- Ability to maintain a Department of Defence Security Clearance
- Australian citizenship (mandatory)
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Experience in Range and/or Defence Land Management
- Current Senior First Aid certificate
- Bush firefighting qualifications
