The opportunity
As the Senior SAP Basis Administrator with CSIRO, you’ll play a critical role supporting world‑class scientific research by ensuring the stability, performance and future‑readiness of our SAP environments.
Working within the IM&T SAP Solutions Team, you’ll lead the installation, upgrade and maintenance of SAP systems, databases and operating systems, while configuring, monitoring and optimising complex technical landscapes. You’ll collaborate closely with Finance, People and IM&T stakeholders to design and deliver integrated system solutions aligned to CSIRO’s roadmap, streamline the user experience across the organisation, and harness data‑driven insights to support leading practices and processes.

High-level duties include:
- System Landscape Architecture Configuration and Operations including Disaster Recovery Architecture, Design, Validation and Testing
- Monitor / maintain / update integration/interfaces with internal and cloud applications
- SAP Application Security, Security Patch review and management
- OS and Database level Security, Patch Monitoring, Backup operations and Management
- Advise on System Architecture / Future state
- Team Lead / Mentor activities for the Basis Team

Salary: AU$135,571 – AU$158,863 per annum (pro rata for part-time), plus 15.4% superannuation

As the successful candidate, you will bring:
Essential criteria
- Minimum 10 years experience working as an SAP Basis Administrator with demonstrated experience of system architecture, configuration and operations.
- Demonstrated experience in stopping/starting of SAP instances/Databases and Operating Systems in Linux environments.
- Demonstrated experience in management of Transport Management System including scheduling and executing transport requests in a multi-tier environment.
- Demonstrated experience of backup administration and disaster recovery including Database and Operating Systems
- Demonstrated experience of system integration administration including design, monitoring, maintenance and updating integrations with internal and cloud applications.
- Demonstrated experience of system administration including SAP Kernel upgrades, SAP OSS note implementation, applying SAP Add-ons/Support packs, OS monitoring/patching/upgrades/space/disk management, HANA DB monitoring/patching and upgrades.
- Demonstrated experience in SAP batch job creation/configuration/maintenance and management.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in SAP and Cyber Security including patching reviews and management.
- Demonstrated experience performing SAP system copies and data refreshes in a multi-tiered environment.
- Demonstrated experience in contributing to the design of future state architecture for on-premise and cloud solutions including S/4HANA, SuccessFactors and Business Technology Platform.
- Demonstrated experience in team leadership and mentoring activities.
Desirable
- Experience with non-SAP middleware including Axway.
- Experience with DB variants including MaxDB and PostgreSQL.
