Are you an experienced SHEQ Advisor in the rail industry? Provide specialised support in Safety, Health, Environment, Quality (SHEQ) and Rail Safety for the Sydney Airport Rail Link. In this role, you’ll drive full compliance with statutory, contractual, and regulatory obligations through strong SHEQ reporting, effective controlled document management, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities
- Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for SHEQ and Rail Safety across the Sydney Airport Rail Link contract.
- Conduct routine audits of daily SHEQ documentation, work practices, and site activities.
- Communicate compliance updates from rail regulators, industry bodies, and corporate legal teams.
- Ensure operational alignment with the Rail Safety Management Plan, HSE Management Plan, and Environmental Management Plan.
- Prepare and deliver SHEQ communications, safety alerts, and legislative updates.
- Assess workplace conditions and practices for compliance with Ventia’s SHEQ Management System and relevant legislation.
- Coordinate contractor assessments and facilitate employee site inductions.
- Participate in ICAM investigations and support the management of serious incidents.
- Support supervisors and team leaders in the implementation of SHEQ systems and processes.
- Assist with return-to-work programs and injury management procedures.
- Administer the Rail Industry Worker (RIW) system to support competency and compliance management.
About You
- Solid experience in WHS or SHEQ-focused roles.
- Experience within the Australian rail sector is a must.
- Solid understanding of Rail Safety legislation and accreditation requirements.
- Familiarity with rail safety regulators and relevant industry standards.
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (mandatory).
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable).
- ICAM Investigator qualification (desirable).
