The Opportunity
The Strategic Asset Manager will lead a client-facing asset management function focused on maximising asset value, optimising lifecycle performance, and enhancing service outcomes across the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) portfolio.
As a key leadership role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to the client, leveraging asset and operational performance data to deliver strategic insights and recommendations that drive informed decision-making and long-term value. Working closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and client stakeholders, you will align day-to-day service delivery with long-term asset strategies, ensuring contractual commitments are met while supporting Ventia’s broader business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead asset management strategy, planning, and continuous improvement across the portfolio.
- Develop and maintain Strategic Asset Plans, Lifecycle Plans, Capital Investment Plans, Whole-of-Life Strategies, and associated budgets.
- Optimise asset performance, lifecycle costs, and service delivery through risk-based assessments and data-driven decision-making.
- Manage contractual asset management obligations, including inspection programs, condition assessments, and lifecycle modelling.
- Monitor and report on asset performance, maintenance outcomes, service quality, and asset data integrity.
- Oversee asset replacement planning, HOTO processes, and asset reporting/visualisation tools.
- Act as the primary asset management liaison between stakeholders, fostering strong client relationships and engagement.
- Translate technical asset information into clear, commercially focused insights and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage consultants, subcontractors, and maintenance strategies for critical and complex assets.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team while promoting collaboration, accountability, and client-focused behaviours.
- Ensure compliance with SHEQ requirements, contractual obligations, legislation, and proactive risk management practices.
About You
- Extensive experience in Asset and Facilities Management.
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management skills across client, operational, engineering, and contractor groups.
- Commercially astute, with the ability to translate technical information into business outcomes.
- Proven leadership experience in complex service environments.
- Skilled at managing competing priorities, solving problems, and delivering quality outcomes with strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Power BI, Power Apps, Word, and Project.
- Experience with CMMS platforms, preferably SAP.
- Strong asset data management, reporting, and visualisation capabilities.
- Qualifications in Asset Management, Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related discipline (desirable).
- Asset Management certifications such as CAAM, CPAM, CSAM, or CFAM (preferred).
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to travel to regional and remote locations.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian National Police Check and Working With Children Check (WWCC).
