About the Role
Ventia is hiring experienced and motivated Care and Custody Managers (CCM) to oversee court custody operations as part of the SAPMICM contract, which delivers secure prisoner transport and custody management services across South Australia. These are senior uniformed leadership roles responsible for the safe, secure, and compliant management of custody facilities while leading and supporting Care and Custody Officers.
You will play a critical role in ensuring the effective day-to-day operation of custody areas, managing risk, and maintaining strong relationships with court officials, SAPOL, and key stakeholders across multiple locations.
These are permanent full-time roles, working Monday to Friday. The contract is based out of our Cavan office; however, these roles will operate primarily across our southern and western court locations, with flexibility required to cover other metropolitan sites including Adelaide (CBD), Elizabeth, Port Adelaide and Christies Beach Magistrates Courts.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily custody operations, ensuring safety, security and compliance.
- Lead, supervise and support Care & Custody Officers and transport staff.
- Manage Persons in Custody (PICs), including reception, discharge, welfare and at-risk individuals.
- Verify warrants and legal documentation for accuracy and compliance.
- Build and maintain relationships with courts, SAPOL and key stakeholders.
- Monitor, report and drive improvements across incidents, risk, compliance and operational processes.
About You
- Certificate III in Correctional Practice (desirable) or willingness to obtain.
- Experience in custody, corrections or a similar regulated environment.
- Proven leadership and people management capability.
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and report writing skills.
- High attention to detail with sound problem-solving ability.
- Computer literacy and experience managing records and documentation.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a clear National Police Check and all required clearances. (including SAPOL)
- Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment in-clinic medical, including drug and alcohol testing.
