About the role
Reporting to our General Manager Transport Infrastructure Solutions, the role of our Project Director will be responsible to develop and maintain a proactive and collaborative relationship with internal and external stakeholders whilst ensuring the Ventia team operate in a structured, accountable, ethical, and cohesive manner to deliver on project requirements.
The Western Roads Upgrade (WRU) network consists of the most intensively trafficked heavy vehicle, arterial roads in Victoria. It contains 49 roads extending from West Melbourne to Werribee. Ventia, in partnership with Netflow, is transforming the way road maintenance is performed in Victoria by using real-time data on the condition of the network to employ maintenance strategies that minimise disruption and maximise whole-of-life value.
This opportunity will see you provide management of critical infrastructure leading the contract team in the delivery of maintenance and services contract requirements through being a visible team leader, ensuring accountability for overall contract performance while promoting a culture of continuous improvement and innovation to deliver service efficiencies.

What you’ll be doing
- Lead our team in the delivery of maintenance and project solutions.
- Build and develop relationships with key stakeholders across the network including the State Govt, DOT (Victoria), Project Co (Netflow), other network providers, Local Govt, Community and Aboriginal Groups.
- Ensure the budgeted WRU program turnover and margin are met or surpassed.
- Always involve the strategic partners supply chain at all stages of project development to enhance delivery performance and promote an integrated team.
- Safety needs of the Network and risk mitigation are considered at all stages of planning and project delivery.
- Support DOT / Project Co with strategic planning and community / stakeholder liaison.
- Ensure the team and our strategic partners are measured and aligned to achieving the KRAs and KPIs for the contract performance.
- Promote the customer as being at the centre of everything we do in our service delivery.
About you
- Well-developed leadership abilities with demonstrated experience driving positive culture and performance.
- Extensive experience in a senior leadership role with demonstrated experience in the delivery in complex infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated experience successfully leading a PPP contract.
- Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, or construction related discipline (preferred).
- Understanding of complex Infrastructure contracts (roads and network management would be well regarded).
- A sound understanding of first principles estimating with a broad background across civil / multidisciplinary disciplines preferably with both capital works (construction) and maintenance / operations.
- Experience in whole of life asset management.
- Understanding of the principles of ISO 55001 and sustainability in asset management and infrastructure.
- Strong people leadership and ability to collaborate to drive outcomes.
