Ventia is seeking a motivated and reliable Grounds Maintenance Technician to join our team supporting Defence operations in Yallambie (North Melbourne).
This is your opportunity to play a key role in maintaining Defence estates, ensuring outdoor environments are safe, compliant, and maintained to a high standard while working within a supportive and close-knit team.
About the role
As a Grounds Maintenance Technician, you will support the delivery of grounds and land management services across Defence sites. This includes maintaining landscaped areas, operating equipment, and ensuring all activities are completed safely and efficiently.
You will work closely with your team and supervisor to deliver planned maintenance programs, respond to daily operational needs, and contribute to a strong safety-first environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Mowing, edging, and general garden and grounds maintenance
- Operating equipment such as mowers, whipper snippers and other tools
- Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance works
- Maintaining a high standard of safety, environmental and quality compliance
- Supporting plant, equipment and consumable management
- Participating in pre-starts, toolbox talks, and team activities
- Completing work orders and reporting tasks accurately

- Full-time, permanent position with long-term stability
- Monday to Thursday roster with early finish Fridays and monthly RDO

About you
- Experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping or similar roles
- Confident using mowers, snippers and general maintenance equipment
- Chemical (herbicide) certification advantages
- Chainsaw licence desirable but not mandatory
- Physically fit and enjoy working outdoors
- Strong commitment to safety and following procedures
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Positive attitude and team-focused mindset
To be considered for this position, you must be an Australian Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Defence clearance. You will also be required to successfully complete an Australian Federal Police Check and Medical Pre-Employment Checks as stipulated by the contract.
