About the Role
As the Health and Safety Manager you will pay a pivotal leadership role in driving a proactive, high-performance safety culture across operations (maintenance, incident response and projects). Duties include –
- Lead and mentor a WHS team (direct reports and broader influence)
- Partner closely with operations to embed safety into planning and delivery
- Drive risk management, audits and compliance across multiple sites
- Lead incident investigations and engage with regulators when required
- Deliver practical, real world safety solutions in fast paced operational environments
- Influence leadership teams and subcontractors to lift safety performance
Monitor trends, identify emerging risk, and implement continuous improvement initiatives
This is a visible, boots on the ground leadership role, with a split of 70/30 (annually) days and nights. Safety is seamlessly embedded into operations, risks are proactively identified and controlled, and the team feels supported, capable and engaged, Performance metrics and KPIs are consistently achieved across safety, people and client outcomes.
Required Skills and Experience
You are commercially aware, operationally focused and confident leading in high-risk environments.
- Strong experience in WHS leadership with infrastructure, construction or transport
- Deep knowledge of WHS legislation, ISO standards, and risk frameworks
- Proven ability to operationalise safety (not just write policies)
- Experience with audits, investigations (ICAM), and contractor management
- Strong influencing, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to simplify complexity and guide teams through competing priorities
- WHS / OHS qualifications (Cert IV or higher)
- ICAM investigation training
