About the role
The successful applicant will provide supervision and co-ordination of all trades to effectively maintain, repair, replace and ensure the integrity and performance of facilities and equipment.
In addition, this role is also responsible for supervising in house staff and sub-contractors in planned and reactive maintenance tasks to meet monthly maintenance deadlines, therefore, your ability to communicate effectively as a team player will see you succeed in this role.
About you
Reporting directly to the Special Forces Manager, you are an accomplished Mechanical Supervisor who is comfortable when working alone and equally enjoy being part of a cohesive team. You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and enjoy building relationships and engaging with staff, contractors, sub-contractors and key Client stakeholders at all levels of the business.
You are naturally a self-motivated individual who can plan, identify and prioritise problems and issues, generate solutions and work collaboratively to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. You have outstanding prioritising and organisational capabilities, a high degree of motivation, energy and initiative, with the capacity to deal with multiple and often conflicting priorities.
Key duties, but not limited to:
• Supervision of in-house trade's staff and subcontractors
• Carry out inspections of Defence facilities to ensure no training or range downtime.
• Work closely with Defence stakeholders to deliver support to Defence training activities.
• Ensure reporting and compliance of activities is completed and maintained
• Assist with Planning, Scheduling and allocation of activities
• Demonstrated knowledge of relevant industry WHS and promote a safe working environment for all staff and sub-contractors
Skills and experience:
• Formal trade background with experience in construction or facilities maintenance on a range of building related works and repairs
• Ability to consistently deliver when under pressure and dealing with integrated systems and potential hazards
• Demonstrated experience in leading and motivating in house trades, including contractors and sub-contractors
• Competence in report writing, procurement principles and quotation preparation
• Willingness to travel occasionally to the different metro & remote defence sites
• Knowledge of Defence training facilities and training activities.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally
• Ability to think on your feet and solve problems under pressure
• Competent in the use of MS Office suite
• Ability to obtain a NV2 security clearance
• C Class Manual Driver’s Licence
