The opportunity
As a UI/UX Designer, you'll join CSIRO's Information Management & Technology (IM&T) division at an exciting time, helping to shape intuitive, engaging and user-centred digital experiences that support world-class science.
Working in an agile and innovative environment, you'll apply your design expertise to create high-quality interfaces across a diverse range of platforms and services, ensuring seamless user experiences that drive adoption, business value and organisational impact.
High-level duties include:
- Liaise with CSIRO business units and our userbase to outline and co-ordinate UX projects Research and develop target personas and their user journey
- Ideate and co-design user experiences to address user pain points
- Create design wireframes and prototypes
- Effectively communicate your insights and designs to key business stakeholders, cross functional team members and management.
- Hand-off designs to developers and vendors for implementation
- Develop information management and design frameworks that underpin design outcomes
- Prepare necessary reports to keep product development and achievements visible
Role particulars
Location and office arrangements: All Australian capital cities with CSIRO sites considered.
Salary: AU$118,102 – AU$127,808 per annum (pro rata for part-time), plus 15.4% superannuation

As the successful candidate, you will bring:
Essential criteria
Under CSIRO policy only those who meet all essential criteria can be appointed.
- 4+ years’ experience in UI/UX design role or experience in a related discipline coupled with relevant training and/or certification. 2.
- Demonstrated ability to harness UI/UX design concepts and techniques especially for multi disciplinary, complex projects 3
- . Keen understanding of design software such as Storybook, Sketch, inDesign, Figma, etc
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JavaScript frameworks
- Excellent communication skills, leading and facilitating client engagement, networking and product development.
- Demonstrated experience in the development of design requirements in an Agile environment
- Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and commitment to principles of Workplace Diversity; Equal Employment Opportunity; Occupational Health, Safety and Environment; and Employee Participation.
Desirable:
- Experience in Lean and Design Thinking methods
