The Opportunity
Transurban QLD require two experienced Civil Technicians to join the Open Roads Maintenance Team on a permanent, full-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced civil maintenance professionals to become part of a collaborative and supportive team responsible for maintaining the safety, functionality and presentation of Queensland’s road and tunnel network.
The role operates on a rotating day and night roster, with flexibility required to work overtime, weekends and respond to occasional call-outs.
Roster
Day shift: Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 2:00pm
Night shift: Monday to Friday, 7:00pm – 5:00am
Roster: Two-week rotation between day and night shifts
Overtime: Regular opportunities available, including weekends and additional hours during the week

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver planned, routine and reactive civil maintenance across roads and tunnels.
- Perform general civil repairs, drainage, landscaping, vegetation and grounds maintenance.
- Inspect and maintain civil structures and infrastructure, identifying defects and risks.
- Undertake painting, cleaning and pressure-washing activities.
- Support project, additional and Incident Response works, including assisting emergency services when required.
- Work safely and efficiently in live traffic environments.
- Ensure all work meets safety, environmental, quality, time and contractual requirements.
- Accurately report maintenance activities, incidents, risks and defects.
- Work flexibly across the network and contribute to a positive, safety-focused team environment.
About You
We are looking for someone with a strong civil maintenance background who takes pride in delivering high-quality work, works well as part of a team, and is committed to maintaining safe, reliable and well-presented infrastructure.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A civil trade background, with demonstrated experience carrying out civil maintenance works, handling materials, and conducting quality testing and monitoring.
- A strong focus on health, safety and quality, with the ability to work safely in a physically demanding environment.
- A current MR Driver’s Licence.
- A current Construction White Card.
- A basic understanding of Asset Management and Life Cycle Modelling.
- The ability to adapt to changing priorities and respond effectively in a reactive operational environment.
- A flexible mindset and willingness to take on a variety of tasks as required.
Desirable Experience and Qualifications
Experience working on road networks is highly desirable. Candidates with any of the following additional licences, tickets or qualifications will be highly regarded:
- AC/DC Commercial Licence
- Traffic Management Implementation
- First Aid and CPR
- EWP (Elevated Work Platform)
- Working at Heights
- Confined Space
- Level 1 Inspection Ticket
- Excavator Ticket
- Bobcat Ticket
- Dogman Ticket
