Based in any major Australian city, you’ll report to the P&C Manager for Defence and take full ownership of your own diverse portfolio. As a true HR generalist, you’ll be at the heart of shaping our people experience, driving initiatives across employee relations, performance and change management, workforce planning, engagement, training and development, recruitment, and career/talent growth.

Key Accountabilities
- Build constructive Union relationships and support industrial relations negotiations to achieve strategic, commercially sound outcomes.
- Provide timely, accurate and compliant ER advice to resolve people matters effectively.
- Partner with senior leaders to deliver People objectives and execute People Plans aligned with business strategy.
- Support a high-performance culture through quality people initiatives, organisational design and effective workforce planning.
- Lead the design, management and implementation of change initiatives.
- Provide recruitment advice aligned with budgets, headcount and remuneration guidelines.
- Promote consistent application of Ventia policies, governance and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with internal functions (ER, People Services, Payroll) to ensure People processes are delivered accurately and on time.
- Implement strategic and operational People initiatives aligned to Sector business plans.
- Ensure consistent Performance Plans in SuccessFactors and champion a Safe for Life culture.
- Undertake additional duties as required to support changing business and customer needs.
About You
- Degree in Business, HR, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Strong HR background with solid ER/IR expertise and sound employment law knowledge
- Experience in a services based environment and in leading teams
- Solid EA negotiations experience
- Skilled in Talent Management, Change Management, and conflict resolution
- Excellent judgement, communication, and relationship building abilities
- Demonstrates alignment with Ventia’s values, strong ethics, and a growth mindset
