About the role
Water Corporation is seeking an experienced Principal – Operational Technology (OT) Architect to lead the strategic direction and enterprise architecture design of Operational Technology across our organisation.
This is a senior role responsible for shaping the future of OT architecture, ensuring secure and reliable integration between Operational Technology and Information Technology environments to support critical infrastructure and service delivery across Western Australia.

What the role will involve:
In this role, you will lead the development and delivery of enterprise OT architecture and strategic roadmaps that enable safe, secure and scalable operational systems across the business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the development of strategic OT roadmaps aligned to corporate and IT strategies
- Designing secure and resilient OT and IT integration architectures, including networks, data flows and protocols
- Developing and maintaining architecture standards, patterns and documentation
- Providing strategic input into long-term Operational Technology planning and investment decisions
- Ensuring projects and platforms comply with enterprise OT architecture principles and standards
- Providing expert architectural advice across multiple operational sites and environments
- Collaborating with architects, engineers and delivery teams to ensure alignment between architecture principles and engineering standards
- Participating in governance forums to guide and endorse architectural decisions
- Evaluating and recommending technology solutions to improve performance, reliability and interoperability of OT environments
- Leading OT-related risk and cyber security assessments and advising on mitigation strategies
- Maintaining awareness of emerging OT, IT and cyber security trends to inform future direction
- Engaging with business and technology leaders to align solutions with operational needs and strategic outcomes
- Influencing stakeholders across technology, operations and corporate functions
Key skills and experience:
You will be a strategic thinker with strong technical and stakeholder leadership capability, able to bridge operational and enterprise technology environments.
You will demonstrate:
- Degree qualification in Information Technology, Operational Technology, Computer Science or related discipline
- Significant experience in Operational Technology architecture or related technical leadership roles
- Experience applying enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or equivalent
- Strong experience designing and integrating OT systems such as SCADA, PLCs, industrial networks and related technologies
- Proven ability to work with diverse technical and business stakeholders to deliver enterprise technology outcomes
- Strong understanding of technology governance and architecture practices
- Ability to translate architectural concepts into business value and operational outcomes
- Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement capability
