Join Ventia’s Environmental Monitoring team as a Casual Technical Officer, working onsite at Garden Island one day per week, all year round.

What You’ll Be Doing:
- You'll support a range of environmental and biosecurity monitoring activities, including:
- Collecting environmental and biosecurity samples (water, soil, specimens, groundwater, etc.)
- Maintaining and installing field monitoring equipment
- Recording and validating field data
- Completing chain-of-custody documentation
- Assisting with environmental reporting
- Engaging with stakeholders such as labs, subcontractors and internal project staff
- This role is ideal if you enjoy being outdoors, working independently, and contributing to meaningful environmental outcomes.
Who We’re Looking For
You don’t need years of experience – just enthusiasm, reliability and a passion for environmental work.
You will ideally have:
- Studying or completed a qualification in Environmental Science, Science, Engineering, Land Management or similar
- A driver’s licence
- Good computer skills (Excel, data entry, report writing)
- Interest in environmental monitoring, biosecurity or land management
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Ability to obtain a Defence security clearance (Australian Citizen)
- Bonus points if you already have a White Card or First Aid, but this can also be arranged.
