About the Role
You will be responsible for monitoring all financial aspects from setup through to billing and close off. You will ensure financial accuracy, compliance with accounting standards and enable stakeholders to make informed data backed decisions.
You will contribute to standardised processes, support best practice and help to drive continual improvement across project accounting functions. Duties include -
- Analyse project performance, variances and profitability
- Support month end process including reporting, commentary and reconciliation
- Prepare and review journals, accruals and account reconciliations
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, audit requirements and internal control frameworks
- Set up and maintain project structures (WBS, cost objects)
- Review and approve cost transfers, adjustments and allocations
- Prepare forecasts inputs and assist stakeholders with budgeting processes
- Collaborate with finance partners and project team to ensure accuracy and alignment
- Provide leadership, guidance, coaching and work allocation and support to finance administrators
Required Skills and Experience
It is essential that you have relevant tertiary qualifications with a strong understanding of accounting principles and standards. Ideally you will be familiar with project accounting within construction or maintenance environments.
- Project accounting, financial analysis and month end processes
- Competency with financial systems (SAP advantageous)
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence non-financial staff
- Experience guiding and supporting junior team members
- Passion for continuous improvement and data driven decision making
- Ability to provide clear financial insights to enable strong project decision making
- Strong collaborator, high attention to detail and accuracy
