The role
Join Ventia's Defence Maintenance Contract as a trade-qualified Technical Supervisor, working at RAAF Base Edinburgh.
In this senior role, you’ll manage day-to-day service delivery, ensure strong safety performance and drive compliance with WHS standards across the team and administrative support staff.
You’ll lead and supervise personnel to deliver maintenance outcomes across performance, quality, compliance and safety, while fostering a positive, high-performing team culture.
As part of a team of Technical Supervisors, you will support the Operations Manager to deliver the Defence Maintenance Contract in South Australia, with occasional travel between the Warradale and Edinburgh sites.

Key responsibilities
- Provide supervision, operational oversight and management support to the Site Manager and Senior Regional Planner.
- Liaise with schedulers and maintenance planners to ensure alignment with maintenance plans.
- Manage labour, repair parts, consumables and Commonwealth equipment in coordination with warehouse and procurement teams.
- Ensure maintenance activities and business processes are accurately recorded and completed on time, including within maintenance management systems.
- Allocate maintenance tasks to appropriately qualified personnel.
- Lead and support technical investigations, including inspections, defect analysis and reporting.
- Mentor technical and support staff and support training and development.
- Provide advice and direction to Ventia personnel relating to procedures and compliance.
About you
- Trade qualified as a General Engineering Fitter or similar mechanical trade (essential), with Defence experience highly regarded. Weapons Armourer background is desirable. Other mechanical trades such as Heavy Vehicle Mechanic will also be considered.
- Proven experience leading maintenance teams and managing day to day workshop activities.
- Experience managing employee performance across multiple teams and sites.
- Strong technical capability, including investigations, inspections and quality audits.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, including working with military personnel.
- Confident using business systems, including Microsoft Office (essential) and SAP (desirable).
- Current Australian Driver’s licence (HR or HC desirable).
Must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance. As a result of this requirement the applicant must be an Australian Citizen.
