About the role:
You will be responsible for developing detailed network designs, engineering documentation, and technical artefacts that enable seamless delivery across a range of transport platforms. You will help shape the future of our fibre, microwave radio, DWDM, SDH, and Ethernet networks, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and high performance.
As a Network Design Engineer, you will:
- Design network elements, links, and services across Core and Access Transport Platforms.
- Produce detailed design packages including drawings, scopes of work, bills of materials, and completion records.
- Ensure design integrity from order acknowledgement through to customer acceptance.
- Support diverse site environments including mobile base stations, transmission hubs, data centres, and exchange facilities.
- Maintain strong compliance with engineering standards, WHS requirements, and customer guidelines.
- Contribute to reporting, forward planning, milestones, and alignment across customer systems.
- Mentor, train, and support team members while contributing to the growth of Ventia Solutions.
What we’re looking for:
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Telecommunications or IT preferred).
- Strong understanding of telecommunications networks across Enterprise, Core, Access, and Mobile.
- Knowledge of IP/MPLS networks, L3 routing protocols (BGP, ISIS, OSPF), and IPv4/IPv6.
- Proficiency with design systems such as Helix, Spatial Web, VMR, Meerkat, Netconfig, and MNIS.
- Excellent understanding of MPLS/IP networks, Layer 3 routing protocols (BGP, ISIS, OSPF), and IPv4/IPv6 addressing schemes.
- Ability to produce highly detailed technical documentation and engineering drawings.
- Excellent communication, problem solving, and decision making skills.
- Cisco certifications (CCNA/CCNP) are highly regarded.
