About Alta Capital Partners
Alta Capital Partners is a capital and planning-led enabler of real estate transactions across Australia. We combine real estate development and management with capital requirements, flexible capital structures and partnerships, operating across residential subdivision, large format retail, industrial and logistics, accommodation, and special situations.
We are a growing platform that works with institutional and private capital partners on complex, high-value transactions. Our team is small, senior, and commercially focused.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced real estate lawyer to join the Alta Capital team on a part-time, flexible basis. This is a hands-on advisory and transactional role supporting deal execution across our active pipeline.
The role is currently 2 to 3 days per week. As the business grows, scope and hours will expand accordingly. This is an ideal opportunity for a senior lawyer seeking to re-enter the workforce, maintain active deal exposure, and build in a high-quality, commercial environment on their own terms.
Key Responsibilities
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating real estate transaction documents including sale contracts, JV agreements, development agreements, and leases
- Supporting capital raising processes including reviewing and advising on term sheets, subscription agreements, and investor documents
- Advising on real estate financing structures, security arrangements, and lender requirements
- Reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements including joint ventures, partnership arrangements, and heads of agreement
- Providing general corporate and M&A legal support as required
- Coordinating with external counsel on specialist matters including planning, tax, and litigation
- Supporting the senior team on documentation, structuring, and risk management across live transactions
Experience and Qualifications
- Admitted to practice in New South Wales (or other Australian jurisdiction with willingness to advise on NSW matters)
- Minimum 6 to 8 years post-admission experience, including time at a reputable law firm
- Demonstrated experience in real estate transactions, contracts, and property financing
- Experience in M&A, joint ventures, and commercial agreements
- In-house corporate legal experience is highly regarded
- Exposure to listed markets, ASX compliance, or capital markets is advantageous but not required
- Strong drafting skills and commercial judgement
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-moving environment
Working Arrangements
Alta Capital Partners is committed to providing a flexible, supportive working environment. We understand that the right candidate may have commitments outside of work and we will structure the role accordingly.
- 2 to 3 days per week, with days selected by mutual agreement
- Hybrid working arrangement: combination of in-office (25 Bligh Street, Sydney) and working from home
- Remuneration will be commensurate with experience and agreed days
- Flexible conditions will be formalised once the role and mutual expectations are established
Equal Opportunity
Alta Capital Partners is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace and welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds, including those returning to the workforce after a career break.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. We encourage early expressions of interest.
