Ventia is proud to support the Australian Defence Force through the Defence National Clothing Store Services contract. We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and detail-focused Seams person / Stores Service Attendant to join our team at RAAF Base Amberley.
This unique role combines garment alteration and fitting services with customer service, stores operations, and warehousing support. Working as part of a dedicated team, you will help ensure Defence personnel are correctly fitted, presented, and equipped with the clothing and personal items they need to perform their roles.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Seams person / Stores Service Attendant, your responsibilities will include:
Seams person Duties
- Measuring and fitting customers for Defence clothing items
- Sewing and attaching rank, badges, insignia, and medals in accordance with Defence standards
- Completing garment alterations including hemming, repairs, ironing, and adjustments
- Maintaining accurate records of fittings, alterations, and orders
- Ensuring the care, security, and handling of medals and issued items
Stores & Customer Service Duties
- Receiving, checking, and processing stock deliveries
- Preparing and packing stores for dispatch
- Assisting with Defence clothing and kit issue services
- Inspecting and accepting returned items
- Supporting inventory and stores administration activities
- Using Defence systems and computer terminals for transactions and record keeping
- Performing manual handling and stock movement tasks
- Maintaining housekeeping, safety, and security standards within the workplace
- Delivering outstanding customer service to Defence personnel
What's On Offer
- Permanent Full-Time position
- $28.86 per hour plus Super
- Monday to Thursday: 7:30am – 4:00pm
- Early finish at 2:00pm every Friday
- Job stability within a long-term Defence contract

What You'll Bring
- Experience in sewing, tailoring, garment alterations, or similar work highly regarded
- Previous experience in customer service, retail, warehousing, or stores operations
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Basic computer and data entry skills
- Current Driver's Licence and reliable transport
- Forklift Licence desirable
- Experience using MILIS or DPN systems advantageous
- Ability to meet Defence security requirements
Australian Citizenship is required to obtain and maintain the necessary Defence security clearance.
