About the role:
We are seeking an experienced Principal – Strategic Business Analyst (Cyber) to join our Information and Technology Group’s Information Security Office. In this senior role, you will provide expert analysis and validation of business requirements to support the delivery of cyber security and information management initiatives. You will play a key role in strengthening the organisation’s security posture by translating cyber strategy, regulatory obligations, and enterprise risk frameworks into practical, business-aligned solutions. This position offers the opportunity to work across complex IT and OT environments, influencing strategic outcomes and driving improved information governance and security practices.

What the role will involve:
- Leading the definition, validation, and translation of business, security, and information requirements into fit-for-purpose solutions
- Analysing end-to-end business processes driven by cyber security, regulatory, and information management needs
Partnering with stakeholders across cyber security, technology, and business teams to elicit and document clear, actionable requirements
- Developing business cases and supporting investment decisions, ensuring alignment to risk reduction, compliance, and organisational strategy
- Facilitating workshops, process mapping (current and future state), and requirements gathering activities
- Supporting delivery teams with user stories, backlog development, testing, change management, and training activities
- Identifying inefficiencies, risks, and opportunities for process optimisation and continuous improvement
- Ensuring solutions are secure by design and aligned with cyber security frameworks, information governance standards, and regulatory obligations
- Supporting audit, assurance, and compliance activities through clear documentation and traceability of requirements and controls
- Providing regular status reporting and maintaining strong stakeholder engagement to ensure successful delivery outcomes
Key skills and experience:
Technical Expertise & Experience
- Extensive experience in cyber security, information management, risk, or compliance domains
- Proven ability to translate cyber security or regulatory requirements into business and technical solutions
- Strong understanding of security frameworks (e.g. NIST, Essential Eight), information governance, and data protection
- Experience working across IT and/or OT environments with embedded security considerations
- Advanced business analysis capability including process modelling (BPMN/UML), requirements definition, and SDLC knowledge
- Demonstrated experience in business case development, financial analysis, and procurement processes
- Strong knowledge of agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Lean) and IIBA BABOK practices

- Ability to define functional and non-functional requirements, including security, resilience, availability, and data protection
- Skilled in stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and relationship management across technical and business audiences
- Experience supporting risk assessments, control design, and regulatory compliance initiatives
