In partnership with the Australian Defence Force, we are seeking a Dietician to join our LWS (Living and Working Services) team in Melbourne, Cremorne.
You will be a key member of Ventia’s Culinary Team within the Base Services Contract and responsible for ensuring the nutritional integrity of seasonal cycle menus in accordance with Defence standards.

About the role
Ventia is seeking qualified Dietician to join our LWS (Living and Working Services) team on a full-time basis based in Cremorne, Victoria. The ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience as a dietician implementing programs, providing education and continuous improvement in previous positions. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to national defence capability in a dynamic and rewarding environment.
Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Provide expert input to the Executive Chef to ensure food safety and nutritional compliance across all menus and offerings.
- Ensure Nutritional Information Panels on ‘Grab & Go’ products meet Australian retail standards as outlined by FSANZ.
- Strong ability to assess the nutritional content of foods and diets, including macro- and micronutrient values.
- Sound knowledge of food safety standards and practices, including safe preparation and storage to prevent contamination and foodborne illness.
- Deliver nutritional and performance-based presentations to Defence and other stakeholders.
- Ability to apply nutritional requirements to support various health conditions and performance outcomes through tailored dietary interventions.
- Skilled in delivering engaging education on healthy eating habits, portion control, and balanced nutrition.
- Up-to-date knowledge of current nutritional science and the ability to provide evidence-based recommendations.
About you
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within a large-scale food service, Defence, or healthcare environment.
- Bachelor's degree in science or a related discipline.
- Postgraduate qualification in Nutrition, Dietetics, Health Science, or a similar field.
- Comply with Ventia’s SHEQ management systems and statutory obligations.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- High attention to detail, particularly in data accuracy and compliance documentation.
Must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance. As a result of this requirement the applicant must be an Australian Citizen and be willing to undertake and maintain a satisfactory Australian Federal Police Check.
