About the role
We are seeking an Indigenous Participation (IP) Manager to lead and Support the Defence Contracts with achieving their indigenous employment targets as week as managing the team.
This role is pivotal in creating a culturally safe and inclusive workplace where Indigenous employees feel valued, respected, and supported.
You will engage with communities, build strong networks, and drive positive employment outcomes for Indigenous people, while ensuring alignment with Ventia’s strategic objectives and values.
Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Deliver Indigenous Participation objectives and targets for the Defence Contracts.
- Build strong community networks and foster culturally safe, inclusive workplaces.
- Conduct cultural safety audits and provide pre- and post-employment support.
- Educate hiring managers and employees on cultural competency and employment barriers.
- Maintain strong relationships with Indigenous communities and advocate for long-term outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with Defence Security Clearance requirements and mandatory training.
About you
- Proven leadership and advocacy skills with confidence to challenge and influence change.
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma In human resources, business administration, or a related field (Desired)
- Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience collaborating with Indigenous communities and understanding cultural strengths and challenges.
- High-level interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work flexibly and adaptively in complex environments.
- Previous experience in mentoring, cultural awareness training, and case management.
Must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance. As a result of this requirement the applicant must be an Australian Citizen and be willing to undertake and maintain a satisfactory Australian Federal Police Check.
