We are seeking two Data Engineers for a 12-month FTC to strengthen our data platform through reliable operations, BAU support, and automation. The role focuses on optimising pipelines, improving workflows, and building automation to enhance stability while reducing manual effort.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain data solutions that meet business and technical requirements.
- Apply strong hands-on experience to implement business use cases using modern data platforms and engineering best practices.
- Take technical ownership of datasets and data pipelines, ensuring alignment with data governance, security, and architectural standards.
- Collaborate closely with other data engineers and internal teams to capture data requirements and deliver high quality solutions.
- Own day to day operations of the data platform and manage environment health.
- Address issues related to data cleansing, data quality, and data security (including masking and encryption).
- Perform data quality checks, maintain ingestion workflows, and support overall platform operations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and enhancement of the data platform's capabilities and performance.
- Prioritise and manage multiple BAU activities and project-related tasks effectively.
- Assist with data platform upgrades, migrations, and environment modernisation initiatives.
- Comply with WHS policies, procedures and safe work practices
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering or a related discipline
- 5+ years of commercial experience in Data Engineering, ETL development, and Data Warehouse engineering.
- Experience of Snowflake, AWS ecosystem- EC2, EMR, S3, Spark, Aurora, etc. is required.
- Must have hands-on experience with DevOps practices and tools for CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and deployment within data environments.
- Fundamental knowledge of ETL/ELT and data warehousing concepts.
- Must have advanced SQL experience, including fluency with PL/SQL procedures
- Intermediate knowledge of data modelling principles, with exposure to Data Vault methodology.
- Practical experience in performance tuning and cost optimisation across Snowflake and AWS environments.
- Good understanding of Business Intelligence and Data Management concepts
- Experience in data platform management, including operational support and lifecycle maintenance.
Desirable (Atleast 2)
- Experience within the insurance domain is an advantage.
- Experience designing and developing data reconciliation frameworks and metadata-driven processing solutions.
- Exposure to GenAI/LLM technologies and their application within data platforms.
- Knowledge in Python for scripting, automation, and data engineering tasks.
- Familiarity with data observability concepts and tooling
