The Role
Ventia is seeking an experienced Senior Storeman to lead and support Defence warehousing operations. This role is responsible for supervising storehouse staff, ensuring compliance with Defence policy and ESCM requirements and delivery safe, efficient and high-quality service to our Defence clients.
This position is a full-time permanent role, working Monday to Friday, 07:00am to 03:45pm with a 12:00pm finish on Fridays, and will see you based at Palmer Barracks in South Guildford.
The pay rate for this position is $36.90 per hour
To be considered for this position, you must be an Australian Citizen and willing to undergo a police check.

Key duties, but not limited to:
- Provide leadership, guidance and training to Stores personnel in line with Defence and Ventia policies, ESCM, and service‑specific documentation.
- Oversee daily stores operations including receipt, storage, maintenance, issue and inventory management.
- Manage Supply Customer Accounts (SCA), conduct stocktakes, spot checks, HSI fortnightly audits and annual GFE/GFF assessments.
- Supervise specialist areas including dangerous goods, explosive stores and cylinder storage.
- Ensure HSEQ compliance, conduct inspections, deliver toolbox meetings and complete new-staff inductions.
- Maintain asset registers, tools & equipment holdings, vehicle inspection records and related documentation.
- Liaise with Site Manager and Technical Supervisors regarding service delivery, client needs and operational issues.
- Manage Hazardous Chemicals on site.
- Resolve client complaints, prepare required reports and ensure contractual obligations are met.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
- Ensure staff competency, licensing, safety and adherence to unit standing instructions.
- Perform DG Pack & Accept, and coordinate DG transport (as required).
Requirements:
- Current Driver’s Licence – HR Class highly regarded
- Ability to obtain and hold a Defence security clearance
- Forklift Licence
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft suite
- Experience with SAP – Highly regarded
- Excellent communication & ability to work autonomously or in collaboration with a team
- Prior experience in a stores or warehousing role
