Ventia operates Australia’s largest private firefighting service, delivering aviation, structural, and bushfire response capabilities across the country. With more than 20 years’ experience supporting the Australian Defence Force (ADF), we now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Training & Capability Manager to join our team to be located at Fleet Base West, WA. It is desirable that the applicant holds/held Firefighting qualifications to a Station Officer level or is/was previously a senior Emergency Response Manager in an Australian organisation.
The Training & Capability Manager is responsible for the design, development, and delivery of emergency response training programs across Ship Board Firefighting, Aviation Fire and Rescue, Structural Firefighting, HAZMAT, Road Crash Rescue, and broader emergency response functions. This role ensures our Defence base firefighters are equipped with the skills, knowledge, competencies, and accreditations required to perform safely and effectively. Inclusive of but not limited to, driving, leading and governance mandates applicable to Firefighting services.
In addition to managing training programs, this role is central to delivering high‑quality, compliant, and standardised fire and rescue services across the Defence contract. You will influence operational excellence by embedding continuous improvement, regulatory compliance, and consistent service delivery across the Fire Services DBS contract.
Design, develop, and deliver emergency response training programs aligned with contractual requirements, legislation, and industry best practice.
To be successful in this position you must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance at Negative Vetting 1 (secret). As a result of this requirement, you must be an Australian Citizen.
Demonstrated capacity to introduce change, drive outcomes, evaluate performance, and navigate contentious issues.
