Trade Assistant Role:
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Trade Assistant to support the operation, maintenance and readiness of Defence training facilities and ranges. This hands-on role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, operating equipment, undertaking maintenance activities, and contributing to a safe and efficient working environment.
Working within a secure Defence environment, you will play a key role in preparing training facilities, maintaining equipment, supporting range operations, and ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality and service delivery.
The pay rate for this position is $41.89 per /hour + Superannuation
Responsibilities will include:
- Preparing, setting up and retrieving targets and range equipment
- Assisting with maintenance, repairs to training facilities
- Transporting stores, spare parts and operational equipment
- Performing range support and sentry duties
- Assisting trades and operational teams as required
- Maintaining HSEQ compliance and safe work practices
- Building positive relationships with Defence personnel and contractors
- Supporting the efficient day-to-day operation of training facilities and associated activities
Skills & Experience:
- A strong commitment to workplace safety and a zero-harm culture
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Practical problem-solving abilities and a proactive attitude
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Experience working in operational, maintenance, construction, Defence, facilities management or similar environments
- A professional approach when interacting with military personnel, contractors and stakeholders
Desirable Licences & Qualifications:
The following licences, tickets or experience will be highly regarded:
- Forklift Licence
- Skid Steer Ticket
- Heavy Rigid (HR) Driver's Licence
- Working at Heights Certification
- Elevated Work Platform (EWP) Licence
- Explosive Ordnance Awareness or Work Safely with Explosives training
- Free From Explosives (FFE) training
- Plastic welding experience (desirable but not essential)
Security & Eligibility Requirements
Due to the nature of this role, applicants must:
- Be an Australian Citizen
- Eligible to obtain and maintain d Defence Security Clearance
- Be willing to work flexible house and participate in an on-call roster when required
