About the role:
As a Senior Media Advisor, you will coordinate media and external affairs activities that protect and strengthen Water Corporation’s reputation.
You will produce clear, compelling content, provide trusted advice to senior leaders, and manage media engagement across a complex operating environment. The role requires sound judgement, strong news sense, and the ability to operate confidently and efficiently under pressure.
You will work closely with operational teams, executives and government stakeholders to ensure our communications are accurate, timely and aligned with community expectations.

What you can expect with this role
- Develop high-quality media materials including statements, talking points, Q&As and speeches
- Manage media enquiries from start to finish, ensuring timely, accurate responses
- Provide strategic media advice to senior leaders on reputational risks and opportunities
- Support communication during incidents and high-profile issues
- Translate complex operational information into clear, audience-focused messaging
- Identify and deliver proactive media opportunities that align with organisational and government priorities
- Maintain strong working relationships with journalists and key stakeholders
- Monitor media coverage and provide clear insights and reporting
Key skills and experience:
- Relevant qualification in journalism, communications or similar (or equivalent experience)
- Demonstrated experience in media, journalism or communications roles
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to communicate clearly, concisely and with impact
- Strong judgement and a well-developed sense of what makes news
- Experience building and maintaining media relationships
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to quickly understand complex issues
- Experience working in fast-paced or high-pressure environments
