About the role
The SHEQ Advisor is responsible for supporting the delivery of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) requirements across the contract. Working closely with operational leaders and project teams, you will help drive compliance, minimise risk and foster a strong safety culture that supports the safe delivery of maintenance activities. This role plays a key part in ensuring legal, contractual and business requirements are met through effective systems, processes, training and continuous improvement initiatives.
Role responsibilities
- Support the implementation and maintenance of SHEQ management plans, systems and processes across the contract.
- Conduct incident investigations and provide recommendations to improve safety performance and prevent recurrence.
- Facilitate risk assessments, maintain risk registers and ensure SHEQ documentation is managed in line with company requirements.
- Support rehabilitation and Return to Work programs in partnership with relevant stakeholders.
- Promote a strong safety culture through engagement activities, toolbox talks, inductions and training initiatives.
- Monitor compliance with legislation, regulations, standards and internal SHEQ requirements.
- Assist operational teams in identifying, managing and mitigating safety, environmental and quality risks.
About you
- Experience in a Safety, Health, Environment and Quality role within infrastructure, utilities, facilities management or a related industry.
- Strong understanding of SHEQ legislation, regulatory requirements and ISO management system standards.
- Experience conducting incident investigations, risk assessments and implementing corrective actions.
- Ability to build strong relationships and influence a positive safety culture across a diverse workforce.
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and training facilitation skills.
- Proven ability to drive compliance, manage risk and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Tertiary qualifications in Workplace Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Quality Management or a related discipline are highly regarded.
