The VIMC contract involves the operation, maintenance and performance management of critical Intelligent Transport Systems, traffic signal assets, communications networks, electrical infrastructure and associated roadside technology across live traffic environments.
The maintenance workforce plays a critical role in keeping the road network safe, reliable and operational for the travelling public. Works are performed across metropolitan and regional Victoria and include planned maintenance, fault response, emergency works, inspections, repairs, testing and restoration of traffic signals and ITS assets.
About the role
The Quality Assurance Lead is responsible for leading quality assurance, quality control, audit readiness and continuous improvement across the ITS maintenance contract. Working closely with operational teams, subcontractors and key stakeholders, you will ensure maintenance works, inspections, testing, documentation and records meet contractual, client and statutory requirements. This role is critical in driving a right-first-time culture, supporting compliance obligations and ensuring quality processes are practical, effective and embedded across the contract.
Role responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and ongoing management of the contract quality assurance framework.
- Conduct audits, field inspections and quality assurance reviews to ensure compliance with contractual and operational requirements.
- Manage non-conformances, corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives across the contract.
- Ensure maintenance works, inspections, testing and completion records are accurate, auditable and compliant.
- Support client audits, external assurance activities and quality reporting requirements.
- Monitor quality trends, defects, rework and process failures, identifying opportunities to improve performance.
- Work closely with operational teams and subcontractors to embed quality standards and promote a right-first-time culture.
About you
- Significant experience in quality assurance or quality management within infrastructure, maintenance, utilities or construction environments.
- Strong understanding of quality systems, audits, non-conformance management, inspection processes and completion documentation.
- Experience supporting client audits, assurance activities and compliance programs.
- Ability to identify quality risks, investigate root causes and drive effective corrective actions.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across operational and leadership teams.
- Experience working with ITS, traffic signals, electrical assets, communications or road infrastructure is highly regarded.
- Relevant qualifications in Quality Management, Engineering, Construction, Electrical, Asset Management or a related discipline are desirable.
