An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced ITS Project Engineer to join our team and contribute to the successful delivery of profitable projects under our Sydney Roads and Asset Performance contract.
In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for leading the engineering delivery of projects from design through to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality, technical, and regulatory requirements.
You will bring strong technical expertise and a commitment to engineering excellence, with particular experience across Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), traffic signals, and street lighting. You will also play an important role in fostering a high-performing and collaborative team environment, coordinating effectively with internal and external stakeholders, and supporting training and capability development throughout service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering delivery of ITS projects from design through to completion, ensuring projects meet agreed time, cost, quality, and safety objectives
- Develop, maintain, and implement project delivery plans
- Provide engineering support for tenders and business cases, including ITS design requirements, risk management, safety in design, and incorporation of lessons learned
- Manage project interfaces with related works and coordinate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Identify project deliverables and allocate tasks into the maintenance schedule baseline
- Investigate and resolve project delivery issues, escalating matters where required
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, processes, and systems
- Support on-site project delivery, noting that ITS works are typically undertaken during night shifts
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with relevant project specifications, TfNSW requirements, Australian Standards, and applicable legislation
- Provide technical guidance and support to project teams and other stakeholders throughout project delivery
About You
You are an experienced engineering professional with a strong background in ITS and road infrastructure, combined with proven project delivery capability.
You will ideally have:
- A degree qualification in Electrical, Civil, Control Systems Engineering, or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in the design, installation, operation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of ITS systems
- Strong technical knowledge of traffic signals, ITS, and street lighting systems
- Proven experience managing project budgets and delivering projects safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with relevant standards and requirements
- Strong skills in project planning, scheduling, procurement, and subcontractor management
- Experience working with TfNSW specifications and Australian Standards, preferably within a road infrastructure environment
- Demonstrated experience in engineering design and project delivery, ideally across road infrastructure or transport projects
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Experience with SAP will be highly regarded
