Finance Portfolio Manager – Shape the Future of Ventia’s Finance Centre of Excellence
Up to $140,000 plus super, negotiable dependent on experience
This is your opportunity to shape the future of Ventia’s Finance COE during a period of transformation and uplift.
We’re looking for a senior finance leader who can bring energy, insight and structure to a diverse project portfolio — and who wants the autonomy to redesign how finance supports operational delivery across multiple sectors.
Based in Perth, Melbourne or Brisbane, this newly established role leads an 11 person team and plays a visible role across Ventia’s project, commercial and sector leadership groups.
About the Role
As the Finance Portfolio Manager, you will set the standard for consistent, insightful and value adding project accounting across a complex, multi sector environment with diverse commercial models. Reporting into the Centre of Excellence Manager, you will act as trusted advisor within Finance Senior Leadership with key stakeholders like Project Directors
This role sits at the heart of Ventia’s Finance Operating Model uplift — giving you a key voice in shaping new ways of working, standardisation, digital enablement and business insights.
Key Areas of Impact
Lead & Develop a High Performing Team
- Lead an 11 person finance team with 5 direct reports
- Coach and uplift capability across accountants, administrators and project teams
- Create an inclusive, supportive and improvement focused culture
- Build confidence, judgement and commercial capability across the portfolio
Drive Finance Transformation
- Lead finance mobilisation on new contracts — influencing systems setup, reporting structures and financial guardrails
- Standardise processes, strengthen controls and stabilise core finance activities
- Improve reporting quality and drive consistent project performance insights
- Play an active role in Finance COE uplift and multi year operating model change
Be a Strategic Business Partner
- Act as the Finance COE’s voice in project performance forums and sector leadership reviews
- Partner with operational leaders in high complexity, contract driven environments
- Provide strong judgement across WIP, accruals, revenue recognition and key accounting treatments
- Support planning, budgeting and forecasting with high quality insights
Create Commercial Value
- Analyse drivers of project performance, cost trends and working capital
- Improve cashflow, WIP, debtors and core commercial metrics
- Identify cross functional improvement opportunities that impact delivery, operations and commercial outcomes
What You’ll Bring
- Experience leading a finance team through transformation, standardisation or process uplift
- Proven success supporting operational leaders in complex, multi contract environments
- Strong technical accounting capability (WIP, accruals, revenue recognition)
- Ability to translate data into meaningful insights
- Strong stakeholder engagement across senior finance and operational leadership
- CA/CPA (highly regarded) and experience with SAP (desirable)
